El Campo Ruse is staffed by working artists / activists in the disciplines of spoken word, performance, experimental music, visual arts, and theatre. The organization is a Non-profit entity in California but functions as an extended family of relationships.

Manuel Mancillas (Zopilote)

Program Coordinator
Artistic media: Music, Text and performance, photography.

He holds a BA in Anthropology from UCLA, 1972. He is a founder and current program coordinator of El Campo RUSE. Member of the RUSE Music Collective, the Taco Shops Poets, and the Border Arts Workshop/Taller de Arte Fronterizo. He has been involved in the San Diego-Tijuana art community for 25 years as a performer, community activist, and cultural promoter. Currently, he works as a community organizer for the Escondido Youth Violence Prevention Initiative, funded by the California Wellness Foundation.

He is a graduate from the USIU School of Performing and Visual Arts, and USC's School of Film. He is a founder and current President of the Board of Directors of the Bear State Theatre/RUSE. He is the director and producer of the All-City Free Shakespeare Festival. He has been involved in the Southern California Theatre community for 25 years.

Founder of Installation Gallery in 1980, RUSE in 1988, InSite in 1991, El Sótano in 1994, current officer of the Board of Directors of Bear State Theatre/RUSE. Involved in the San Diego Downtown artist's movement since 1978.
